Self harm in young people has become an ever increasing and wide-ranging problem used to relieve overwhelming emotional distresses such as anxiety, stress, sadness, guilt, emptiness, loneliness and dissociation. Self harm typically begins in early adolescence and peaks in mid to late adolescence. Self harm can be an extremely harrowing experience for both the person inflicting the self-harm and those around them.

Self harm is a phenomenon which includes physical harm to oneself such as cutting, scratching, picking skin, burning, slapping, piercing the skin with pins, gouging, carving words or symbols into the flesh, interfering with wound healing, breaking bones, binge eating, starving and placing oneself in dangerous situations. People who use self harm as a way of coping do not wish to end their lives, with their physical inflictions normally leading to low grade medical severities and are rarely fatal.

EFT tapping offers young people a tool they can quickly use instead of self harming to relieve or alleviate any conflicting emotional distresses. EFT tapping is something they can do anywhere at anytime and it is something they will be able to use for the rest of their lives. At TalkNTap Therapy, counselling sessions help the young person to come to terms with their overwhelming negative emotions and self harming behaviours, where we are able to find the root cause of these issues and 'tap' on them to achieve positive outcomes.

EFT often works when nothing else does, it is painless and works quickly to help you cope in a positive way.
